The second generation battery-electric Nissan Leaf is now available in Australia, which offers a range of approximately 168 miles.
The EV, which is currently available outside of Australia, is available with a 40kWh battery that offers 147 hp and 236 ft.-lb. of torque, according to a release from Nissan. The new Nissan Leaf is available at 89 dealers nationally.
Nissan Australia is only offering a single high-spec grade, available from $49,990 AUD ($34,950), which excludes on-road costs.
It's available with an 8-inch touchscreen display, 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display, satellite navigation, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear leather-accented seats and space for five, said the automaker. The EV also features e-Pedal, which allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, stop and hold the car by using the accelerator pedal alone without needing to use the brakes. It also features an Auto-Hold function.
Advanced safety features available include intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning as standard equipment.
