Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling an estimated 662,185 2012 to 2020 Volkswagen Passat midsize sedans and 2018 to 2019 Atlas midsize SUVs for a headlight issue. Specifically, the blocking cap disabling the adjustment of the headlight's horizontal aim may not have been installed.

Without the blocking cap, the headlight aim can be adjusted out of specification, reducing visibility and increasing the likelihood of a collision.

To fix the problem, Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, block the headlight horizontal adjustment, at no cost to customers.

The recall begins July 10. Owners can reach Volkswagen customer service at (800) 253-2834. Volkswagen's reference number for this recall is 94L9.
