Hyundai's 2020 Elantra will retail for at least $1,750 more than the outgoing model with a base starting price of $19,870, and will arrive as a more fuel efficient compact sedan with new standard safety features.

The Elantra is adding a bundle of safety features called SmartSense that includes standard features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and a driver attention warning.

Other new features include an Intelligent Variable Transmission that replaces a manual gearbox, dual automatic temperature control, 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster, electric heater with the 2.0-liter engine, auto stop-start on the Eco model, and a duel shell horn.

The 2020 Elantra will be available in four trims, including SE, SEL, Value, and Limited. Each model increases combined EPA fuel economy by 2 miles per gallon.

Engine options include a 2.0L four-cylinder on SE, SEL, Value, and Limited. The Eco sedan is powered by a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder, while the Sport trim is powered by a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder. Eco and Sport deliver power through a seven-speed dual clutch.
