Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 10,575 2017-2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and 2018 Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid sedans due to an electrical issue.

Specifically, the main relay within the power relay assembly may have inadequate connections between its contacts, which can result in increased electrical resistance. This situation can cause the rear seat, which is above the assembly, to overheat and increase the chance of a fire.

To remedy the issue, Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the assembly and replace it if it is damaged. In the event no damage is found, the main relay will be replaced. In either case, there will be no charge to owners.

The recall begins Nov. 30. Owners can reach Hyundai customer service at (855) 371-9460.
