Hyundai's 2019 Santa Fe XL will retail for at least $31,830 for the three-row midsize SUV that seats seven passengers, the automaker has announced.

The vehicle replaces the 2018 Santa Fe, while the 2019 Santa Fe two-row, compact SUV is replacing the Santa Fe Sport. Hyundai is developing a new three-row midsize SUV that could replace this vehicle as early as the 2020 model year.

The 2019 Santa Fe XL arrives with an enhanced navigation system. The 2018 model was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety when equipped with the automatic emergency braking system. It will again be offered with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive with active conering control.

It will be available in the SE and Limited models that are both powered by the carryover 3.3-liter GDI V-6 engine that's mated to the six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai has realigned the trim models, and will offer its Ultimate package on Limted. The SE Ultimate and SE Ultimate with technology package have been discontinued.

The base model will be the front-wheel SE. Adding all-wheel drive adds $1,750.
