Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling an estimated 240,242 2017 to 2018 Chrysler Pacifica minivans because the manual park release plug may be removed without a tool, rendering it insecure.

In the event the manual park release is inadvertently engaged, the vehicle could potentially roll away, causing a collision or striking and injuring a pedestrian. To fix the problem, Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the plug at no cost.

The recall begins Aug. 3. Owners can reach Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U50.
