LeasePlan USA will begin offering online driver training from eDriving to its fleet customers, the fleet management company announced.

The offering will allow fleet managers to securely track driver behavior through smartphone sensors, robust scoring mechanisms and benchmarking, according to LeasePlan. Other elements of the service include driver assessments, consultation, training and closed-loop driver coaching.

"Almost all collisions are avoidable if you understand the root causes and proactively manage these underlying reasons," said Jeff Schlesinger, LeasePlan's president and chief executive. "It's increasingly crucial that fleet and safety managers leverage cutting-edge technologies to identify high-risk drivers and take the steps to prevent crashes."

LeasePlan and eDriving will offer an end-to-end solution that can be configured to each company. License monitoring, assessment, and prescribed training help companies gain a fuller view of driver risk to identify the highest-risk drivers and act before a collision.

LeasePlan will announce the driver risk management products stemming from the partnership later this year.
