Subaru has begun selling its three-row Ascent midsize SUV, and offered the first production unit to a loyal Subaru owner in Mequon, Wis., Subaru has announced. The initial vehicle was sold by the Sommer's Subaru dealership.

Samantha Ernest of Pewaukee picked up her new vehicle with her two sons, Caden and Oliver, and their Boston Terrier Brewer. Mark Schreiber, Subaru's district sales manager, was in attendance. Ernest is a two-time Subaru owner. She bought her first Subaru in 2006 and a Tribeca in 2008.

Subaru and the dealership gave Ernest a Starlink Entertainment Anywhere kit that includes two 9.7-inch Apple iPads. The Ascent retails from $31,995.

Sommer's Subaru opened in 1997 and sold about 300 vehicles a year. The dealership now sells more than 2,000 per year.
