Oman has introduced a telematics system that will service the country’s oil and gas industry, following approvals from its oil and gas safety standards and regulations.

The Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) announced Fleet Management Systems & Technologies (FMS Tech) as one of its approved in-vehicle monitoring systems (IVMS), according to a release from FMS Tech. FMS will regulate and record road safety violations, speed limits, licensing, road safety training, and more.

Oil and gas safety standards and regulations require multiple qualifications and approvals to be met before a company can supply to the oil and gas industry in Oman, according to a release from FMS Tech. This is due to several high-risk operations that are potentially dangerous if not managed and regulated properly.

FMS Tech is now one of the seven OPAL-approved IVMS suppliers that were announced in its first round of approvals.
