Three-year-old full-size vans retained the most value among trucks, vans, and SUVs in the wholesale used vehicle market, according to Tom Kontos, KAR Auction Services' chief economist.

The average selling price for vehicles in the segment increased in value when compared to January and February of 2017 with an average selling price of $13,032 per unit. That was a 0.4% improvement from the prior month and 1.5% gain over a year ago. The category has the sixth-highest price average of the 13 truck and car categories tracked by Kontos.

Full-size vans bested the average of the eight truck categories, which sold for an average of $12,647 in February, which was up 3.3% from January and flat on the year. The five passenger car categories sold for an average of $8,609, which was down 1.6% from the prior month and down 1.4% from the prior year.
