The battery-electric Ford Transit 350HD from Lightning Systems now qualifies for a state incentive program in New York, the Loveland, Colo.-based vehicle modifier has announced.
The vehicle is now eligible under the New York Truck-Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP) that's a partnership between the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, state Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Transportation, and CALSTART. The program provides $19 million in inventives for clean vehicle technologies.
"The program covers up to 80% of the incremental cost of eligible clean vehicles such as our zero-emission Ford Transit," said Tim Reeser, CEO of Lightning Systems. "Incentives like New York's enable delivery and shuttle fleets to add vehicles that will reduce or eliminate emissions at this critical time in the electric vehicle market."
Lightning Systems adds its LightningElectric battery conversion package to a Transit 350HD under Ford's eQVM program and retains the factory warranty. The vehicles are rated at 10,360 pounds GVWR. The lithium-ion battery system takes up 4,000 pounds of that payload capacity.
Installation and service are performed by Ford QVM partners and dealers. Deliveries of the vehicles begins in March.
