Chevrolet has added several new features for 2016 to its Tahoe large SUV that entered its fourth generation with the 2015 model year, including adaptive headlights, forward collision alerting, lane keep assist, and a safety alert seat.

While the Tahoe has seen wider adoption among law enforcement and fire response fleets due to its impressive cargo carrying capability, the SUV has also found use among commercial fleets in rail and sales.

For these fleets, the body-on-frame Tahoe offers a powerhouse truck with greater security to haul at times sensitive emergency equipment.

The Tahoe is powered by a 5.3L V-8 EcoTec3 that uses cylinder deactivation to improve fuel economy during cruising. The Tahoe delivers an EPA-rated 23 mpg on the highway, 16 mpg in the city, and 18 mpg combined. The V-8 is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Following the 2015 redesign, the Tahoe adds several valuable features for 2016, including the Intellibeam headlights that will increase safety for fleet drivers who are on the road at nighttime. The beams adjust from high to low depending on the amount of light in teh environment in front of the vehicle.

Forward collision alerting is another new safety feature that's a weapon in the battle against distracted driving. The safety alert seat ties into the pre-collision warning by using haptic vibrations in the side bolsters of the driver's seat. Lane keep assist isn't a bad frill because vehicles leaving their lanes are the leading cause of highway collisions.

Another new feature will help fleets who assign the vehicle to various drivers. The 2016 Tahoe adds power-adjustable pedals. Using a switch under the dashboard, a driver can move the pedals closer or further away depending on their height. It's a great feature that acknowledges that fleet drivers have different body types.

The Tahoe's interior provides a comfortable mobile office with heated leather appointed front bucket seats, a leather wrap steering wheel, and three-zone climate control.
