A new fully synchronized, 3-speed manual transmission is now standard equipment on 1965 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 high-performance sports option, it was announced here today by John B. Beltz, the division's chief engineer.

"This new heavy-duty transmission," said Beltz, "provides a closer spaced gear ratio change between 1st and 2nd, and a smoother transition between gears for a more positive 'feel' when shifting."

In addition to the new transmission with shift column control, standard equipment on the 4-4-2 also includes a 400 cu. in. high-compression engine, dual exhaust system, heavy-duty drive train, sports car suspension, 7.75" x 14" redline tires, and tri-shaded 4-4-2 ornamentation.

An optional floor shift with Hurst linkage may be ordered with the new 3-speed. Other transmissions available with the 4-4-2 as extra-cost options include a fully synchronized "four-on-the-floor" and the heavy-duty Jetaway automatic.
