Italgas, the third largest natural gas distributor in Europe, began renovation of its entire fleet with the first delivery of methane-powered FCA vehicles in Turin, Italy. Deliveries in Rome and Naples are planned to follow.

The deliveries are part of the Italgas 2017-2023 Industrial Plan to reduce emissions and improve air quality in cities where it operates, according to a release from the company. The plan also includes the construction of over 120 gas stations in 40 areas.

Italy is the leading European market for natural gas-fuelled cars, according a report from Reuters.

Italgas Group's fleet is made up of about 2,500 vehicles and will be replaced over 12 months with Fiat Chrysler Panda, Panda Van, Fiorino, 500L, Doblo, Qubo, and Ducato models.
