CalAmp will integrate its plug-and-play OBD devices and telematics systems into the connected car platform of Autobrain, CalAmp has announced. The CalAmp-supported devices were offered starting July 1.

CalAmp's PEG and PULS, two technologies at the core of its telematics offerings, power the devices with embedded features that can be updated and expanded over-the-air. These systems, along with OBD technology vehicle coverage and feature sets, enable partners such as Autobrain to rapidly launch, scale and continually innovate their connected car services, according to the company.

"Autobrain is preparing to launch a unique connected car suite of applications direct to consumers through a nationwide retail network, and CalAmp's technology will help them deliver the scale, reliability and flexibility required to best serve their customers," said Justin Schmid, senior vice president and general manager of CalAmp's telematics systems business. "Consumer telematics services are poised for growth and this evolving channel provides CalAmp with valuable new opportunities to partner with customers to improve and protect the lives of people around the world."
