The 2018 Ford Expedition will add Pro Trailer Backup Assist to help drivers while they're backing up a trailer, Ford announced.

The feature, which was first introduced on the 2016 F-150, helps the driver steer the trailer while backing up using a control knob. The system steers the wheels and limits speed.

Ford determined that 50% of Expedition buyers value towing and 15% tow weekly or monthly. The large SUV can tow up to 9,300 pounds.

The Expedition is entering its fourth generation with a more powerful V-6 engine, lighter-weight body and frame, and an array of technology upgrades such as onboard Wi-Fi, the SYNC 3 infotainment system, and more connectivity.
