FCA US LCC, the Michigan-based subsidiary of Fiat Chrystler Automobiles N.V., announced that 500 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans will be added to the self-driving technology company Waymo. The project will begin next month.

The FCA already delivered 100 hybrid minivans to the project during the second half of 2016.

Waymo will be inviting the public to use its self-driving fleet for every day travel. Waymo's early rider program gives selected Phoenix residents the opportunity to experience the self-driving minivans for the first time.

Waymo and FCA co-located a select group of engineers at a facility in southeastern Michigan to accelerate the overall development process. In addition, extensive testing was carried out at FCA’s Chelsea Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Mich., and Arizona Proving Grounds in Yucca, Ariz., as well as Waymo test sites in California.
