Hyundai Motor America is recalling 62,811 2015- and 2016-model year Sonata and Sonata Hybrid cars because their sunroof panels might detach while driving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall covers Sonata Hybrid cars manufactured from Dec. 8, 2014, to Aug. 18, 2015, along with Sonata cars manufactured from May 28, 2014, to March 18, 2016. They are all equipped with the panoramic sunroof option.

Because of faulty bonding involving the sunroof wind deflector, the sunroof panel on these vehicles may separate and create a potential road hazard, NHTSA said.

Hyundai dealers will repair the wind deflector anchor plate, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Dec. 2.

Vehicle owners can reach Hyundai customer service at (800) 633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 152.
