Sales of vehicles from eight automakers to commercial fleets fell 19.6% to 40,657 units in September but remain solidly positive for the year, according to Automotive Fleet data.

Sales of trucks, vans, SUVs, and passengers cars fell during the month, which marked the second month of declining fleet sales. The truck-based category fell 20.2% to 33,849 units, while the car category fell 17% to 6,808 units.

Commercial fleet sales remain solidly positive through three quarters of 2016 with a 5% increase to 510,997 units over the same period in 2015. The truck category has increased 7.6% to 431,665 units, while the car sales have fallen 7.3% to 79,332 units.
