St. Johns County (Fla.) has opened a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station through a public-private partnership with Nopetro.
The station is located at the St. Johns County Public Works facility and the county has committed to buy 100,000 gallons in its first year to fuel its vehicles, reports the Jacksonville Business Journal.
The project was aprroved by the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners in late 2014. Through the agreement, Nopetro agreed to handle the $3 million capital investment. Nopetro has worked on similar projects throughout Florida with Leon County, Tallahassee, and the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX).
