Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 888 2016 model-year GLC 300 and GLC 300 4Matic SUVs because of potential air bag malfunction or stalling, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In these vehicles, the steering columns may have the wiring harness for the switch module incorrectly routed. As a result, the harness may chafe and the air bag may unexpectedly deploy or the engine may stall, NHTSA reported.

The vehicles at issue were manufactured from June 16, 2015, to Nov. 3, 2015.

MBUSA dealers will inspect the wiring harnesses and properly reroute them as necessary. Any damaged harnesses will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in April. Vehicle owners can reach MBUSA customer service at (800) 367-6372.
