Consumer Reports has ranked Audi, Subaru, and Lexus as the top three vehicle brands. The publication rated vehicle brands based on overall performance, road testing, and predicted reliability results for each tested vehicle model of the car brand.

To create the vehicle brand Report Card, Consumer Reports aggregated road-test performance, reliability, safety performance and active safety aids, as well as owner satisfaction.

The publication recommended all tested models from Audi and Subaru. Audi displaced Lexus, which held the top spot a year ago. Both also received high marks on their overall and road-test scores.

Tested Lexus models were recommended by 88% and received average overall and road-test scores. Porsche and BMW rounded out the top five car brands. The publication ranked Mazda sixth and recommended all models.

The three worst vehicle brands were Mitsubishi, Jeep and Fiat, according to Consumer Reports. Of the tested vehicles for each of these brands, none were recommended by the publication. They received below average overall, road-test and predicted reliability scores.
