NationaLease, a North American full-service truck leasing organization, recently held its Canadian Leadership Summit in Montreal. This meeting is the key opportunity for Canadian members to discuss the latest issues facing the leasing industry in Canada, according to the company.

Two members were recognized with the Canadian Most Valuable Performance Award, recognizing those Canadian members who have had outstanding performance in the areas of business growth, member participation, and purchasing within the NationaLease system. This year’s winners were TFI Holdings, Inc. of Montreal and VEL NationaLease of Hartland, New Brunswick, according to the company.

The meeting included discussions on the upcoming use of autonomous trucks and new technologies. The meeting also included the the presentation of the NationaLease Canadian Supplier of the Year Award to Brad Thiessen, vice president and general manager of Freightliner LLC. Other presentations included an open discussion on supply management programs and concluded with a Technology Fair featuring several Canadian suppliers.

The second day included a presentation from Corey Cox, vice present of Information Systems with Tandet NationaLease. He provided key information on the importance of communication and technology in the truck leasing industry and how critical they are for internal and external parties. Along with this included a session on incentives for fuel economy, presented by Yves Maurais, fleet manager at Location Robert NationaLease. The general session concluded with Mike Margarone, president of DeCarolis Truck Rental, Inc., who shared a comprehensive look at how DeCarolis runs its business and how other members can utilize these practices in their companies.
