Cadillac will roll out a series of new technologies with its 2016 vehicles that improve fuel efficiency, including cylinder deactivation, stop-start, and widespread use of a new 8-speed transmission.

Cadillac is introducing a new 3.6L V-6 with the company's cylinder deactivation technology known as Active Fuel Management that allows the vehicle to switch to four-cylinder operation.

Cadillac is adding the technology to its ATS and CTS product lines, as well as its V-8-powered Escalade that can operate in four-cylinder mode.

The ATS and CTS will also add automatic stop-start to the 2.0L four-cylinder engine, which shuts off the engine when the car is stopped at a red light. Cadillac is also introducing a new 8-speed transmission for the 2016 ATS and CTS cars.
