Oil service provider Halliburton Co. will roll out a range of fleet management services under a multiple-year contract it signed with MiX Telematics over the next 12 to 18 months, the fleet management vendor announced.

The telematics company will provide fleet management, safety, and compliance solutions for Halliburton's North American fleet of more than 15,000 vehicles.

The MiX solution is replacing an existing system that Halliburton already had in place.

MiX Telematics said solutions will enable Halliburton to improve safety, efficiency, and compliance in its fleet by targeting training to driver behavior scaled to the fleet's needs; improving overall fleet efficiency, including fuel economy and asset utilization; and ensuring compliance, including hours of service, with local, state, and federal regulations.

One of the aspects of MiX's solution that stood out for Halliburton was it's "service for life" concept, said Pete Allen, executive VP of sales for MiX.

"We're not just there to support them when there's a problem, but we help them proactively manage the data and understand what that data is telling them to achieve their goals and objectives, which is to have a safer fleet, increase the operating efficency, and be fully compliant with the hours of service," he said.

Halliburton is headquartered in Houston.
