BMW North America is recalling 7,544 vehicles because they may have been programmed with software that prevents the front side marker lights from operating when the parking lights or headlights are on, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

BMW dealers need to upload revised software to resolve the problem. The recall affects 2012-2015 model-year 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi and ActiveHybrid3 vehicles; 2014-2015 328xi Sports Wagon vehicles; 2014-2015 328d and 328xd vehicles; and 2014-2015 328xd Sports Wagon vehicles.

The recall is expected to begin Oct. 9. Car owners can reach BMW customer service at (800) 525-7417 or via email at [email protected].
