Brenda Davis, fleet commodity manager for Baker Hughes, Inc., was named the 2015 Professional Fleet Manager of the year at a ceremony during the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association's (AFLA) annual conference in Nashville, Tenn., on Sept. 15.

Davis said she was "humbled" by receiving the award, and noted that she didn't do it alone. She credited her team at Baker Hughes and the company's suppliers.

The award is presented by Automotive Fleet and sponsored by Wheels Inc. and AFLA. The award was presented by Dan Frank, president of Wheels.

Davis has managed the fleet at Baker Hughes, which today numbers 16,500 vehicles and motored equipment, for 18 years.

Among Davis' recent achievements was helping to manage, in conjunction with operations, the downturn in the oil industry and the utilization of vehicles, resulting in a review of business process norms and policies that achieved in excess of $5 million in cost avoidance and savings in the first quarter of 2015. From 2013 to 2014, the company achieved reductions in excess of $12 million by the continual review of TCO, contracts, best practices and program technology enhancements.

Davis, who has been nominated for the Professional Fleet Manager of the Year award in 2004 and 2014, was in a field that included John Dmochowsky of Mondelez International, and Jann Panzer of Albertsons Safeway.
