Hyundai Motor America is recalling 2,580 2015 model-year Accent cars because the occupant detection system (ODS) may fail to deactivate the air bag when a child restraint seat occupies the front passenger seat, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

The system malfunction, which tends to occur during very cold temperatures, increases the injury risk to children in restraint seats riding up front. To fix the problem, Hyundai dealers will correct the ODS software, NHTSA said.

This recall affects Accent cars manufactured from Sept. 15, 2014, to Feb. 10 of this year.

The recall is expected to get under way June 5. Vehicle owners can reach Hyundai customer service at (855) 671-3059. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 129.
