Cadillac is increasing the power and lowering the price for its ELR plug-in hybrid car for the 2016 model year, the automaker has announced.
Cadillac is lowering the price of the ELR by about $9,000 to a quoted price of $58,495 after federal tax credits, which would be significantly lower than the approximately $75,000 MSRP of the 2014 model.
The 2016 ELR will also get a 25 percent boost in torque and power, faster acceleration, higher top speed, re-tuned chassis and steering, more responsive brakes, and a new performance package.
The ELR will offer a driving range of 330 miles and will be powered by a 1.4L gasoline inline-four engine. The vehicle will deliver an estimated range of 39 miles in electric mode. The battery can be charged with a 120-volt or 240-volt charger.
