VIDEO: Nevada's Distracted Driving Crackdown

Four law enforcement agencies in Nevada have joined forces to conduct a Feb. 12-23 crackdown on distracted driving.

Officers from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Department of Public Safety Nevada Highway Patrol are participating in the special enforcement campaign.

Nevada law prohibits any use of a handheld electronic device -- cell phone, mp3 player, GPS device, etc. – while driving. This law took effect Jan. 1, 2012.

But law enforcement officers say they continue to see distracted driving – in all its forms – on a regular basis. Behind-the-wheel eating, drinking and grooming are also common.
