Toyota is recalling 4,971 2014-2015 model-year Prius V hybrid vehicles because their passenger-seat air bag system may fail to deploy in a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalled cars were manufactured from Nov. 7, 2013, to Jan. 7 of this year. Their occupant classification system (OCS), which activates or deactivates the passenger-seat air bag system, may have been improperly calibrated, NHTSA said.

To resolve the problem, Toyota dealers will re-calibrate the OCS. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is set to begin Feb. 15.

Prius V owners can reach Toyota customer service at (800) 331-4331.
