BMW of North America is recalling 846 2015 model-year MINI Cooper Hardtop 2 Door cars because their driver and front passenger seatback adjustment mechanisms may not be fully engaged, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

The recall covers cars manufactured from Aug. 12 to Sept. 2 of this year.

The problem poses a safety risk because if the seatback adjustment mechanism is not fully engaged, the seatback may fold during a rear impact collision, NHTSA said.

MINI dealers will re-align and re-tighten the seatback adjustment mechanisms, free of charge, to resolve the issue.

The recall is expected to begin this month. Car owners can reach MINI customer service at (866) 825-1525.
