MiX Telematics has signed Kangaroo Bus Lines in Queensland, Red Bus in New Zealand, and Coca-Cola Amatil in Papua New Guinea as subscribers, according to the company.

The deals, which together represent the monitoring of 450 vehicles and assets, were won thanks to strategic relationships the telematics provider has with its channel partners in Australasia. Future Fleet, Vehicle Technologies, and Master System Technologies are also part of MiX Telematics’s ongoing incentive-based dealer competition.

Bus customers Kangaroo Bus Lines in Queensland and Red Bus in Christchurch were signed in partnership with MiX Telematics channel partners Future Fleet from Australia and Vehicle Technologies from New Zealand, respectively. Following successful trials, both bus operators will be making use of MiX Telematics’s in-cab driving aid, the RIBAS display. This technology helps improve driver behavior by alerting the driver through visual and audio prompts as to the following driving events: overrevving, excessive idling, harsh braking, harsh acceleration, and overspeeding. Keeping these risky driving maneuvers under control is proven to enhance both safety and efficiency, which includes reducing fuel costs by an average of 10 percent.

In collaboration with channel partner Master System Technologies Ltd in Papua New Guinea, Coca-Cola Amatil is fitting 210 of its vehicles and other assets with a MiX Telematics fleet management solution, including the fitment of voice kits and panic buttons. Installation is halfway through and will enable the global FMCG business to lessen their risk, especially in terms of hijacking, which remains a significant threat to businesses in the region.

Coca-Cola Amatil’s assets to be monitored include the vehicles of sales reps and management as well as those used for deliveries. In addition, the company will also be able to monitor their generators. Master System Technologies will also provide constant monitoring via a control room on their premises.
