Quantum Fuel Systems will provide plug-in hybrid control software to Fisker Auto Group for use in the re-launched Karma, the Lake Forest company has announced.
The deal is worth $4 million for Quantum, which is licensing the software to Fisker. The license also grants Fisker the right to expand use of the software into its Atlantic vehicle lineup. As part of the deal, Quantum will provide software development services for an additional $1.35 million.
In Feburary, Chinese company Wanxiang Group took over the luxury hybrid maker in bakruptcy proceedings. Fisker has obtained a federal loan of $168 million.
