Chrysler Group is recalling 18,245 2013-2015 model-year Ram C/V Tradesman cargo vans because road hazards such as potholes might cause air bags to deploy unexpectedly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

The recall affects vans equipped with two front bucket seats and no rear seating. They were manufactured from July 25, 2012, to Aug. 20 of this year. In bumpy road conditions, the front passenger side curtain and/or seat air bags might suddenly deploy, posing a safety risk.

Chrysler dealers will update the software in the occupant restraint control (ORC) module, free of charge. The recall began Oct. 3.

Van owners can reach Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P51.
