Toyota is recalling 10,462 2013 model-year Lexus GS 350 sedans because of potential inadvertent deceleration.

A switch that senses the amount of pressure that the driver applies to the brake pedal may fail and trigger braking without the driver’s input and without illuminating the brake lights, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The recall affects GS 350 sedans manufactured from June 8, 2012, through Dec. 26, 2012.

Toyota dealers will replace the brake pedal support assembly, which includes the brake pedal load-sensing switch, free of charge. Parts for the remedy, however, are not yet available.

Toyota will first send affected vehicle owners an interim notification letter to advise them of the recall. When remedy parts are available, another letter will be sent.  Vehicle owners can reach Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
