Fiat Chrysler received more than 10,000 orders for the 2015 Chrysler 200 on the first day the ordering bank opened, the company has announced.

In the first two days of availability from May 8-9, buyers placed more than 17,000 orders for the mid-size sedan, which will arrive at dealers July 1 with a starting retail price of $21,700 (excluding destination fees).

Fiat Chrysler's Sterling Heights, Mich., assembly plant has ramped up to full production through mid-July to meet demand for the vehicle.

The Chrysler 200 will be offered in four models, including the LX, Limited, 200S, and premium 200C. The Chrysler 200 is offered in two engines — a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 and 2.4L MultiAir2 Tigershark inline four.
