New England's largest electric and gas utility system will use Chevin's FleetWave to manage its fleet of more than 5,400 pieces of equipment across seven operating companies.

FleetWave will ultimately become Northeast Utilities enterprise fleet management information system, replacing two separate fleet systems and will interface with more than a dozen disparate operating systems and service providers.

"The need to control costs and maximize equipment utilization in the utility sector are the key motivators behind Chevin's growth in this area and FleetWave is proving to be highly effective in helping fleets to meet these important objectives," said Ron Katz, Chevin's senior vice president of North American sales.

Chevin's Web-based enterprise fleet management information software, FleetWave is used to manage more than 800,000 fleet vehicles around the world. Recent contract signings in the utility sector include Pike Electric, DC Water, Bell Canada, Washington Gas, Penn West, Henkels & McCoy and NESCO Equipment.
