South Africa's Ekurhuleni Emergency Services unit is receiving 12 new ambulances and a disaster bus to improve response times in the city, reports AllAfrica.com.

The new vehicles were deployed in late February and will remain on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The city will now have an average of 74 ambulances on the road at any one time.

As part of the move, the city also added 176 new firefighters and emergency car practitioners, Mayor Mondli Gungubele told the media outlet.
