Hyundai Motor Co. has updated the fuel economy numbers for its revamped 2015 Sonata mid-size sedan and acknowledged that it overstated the data in press material.

In late 2013, Hyundai and Kia Motors agreed to a legal settlement that the companies inflated fuel economy numbers for vehicles sold between 2011 and 2013. Hyundai agreed to pay $210 million to cover additional fuel costs.

On Friday, the South Korean government announced that the 2015 Sonata gets 12.1 kilometers per liter (28.4 miles per gallon) rather than the 12.6 kilometers per liter (29.6 mpg) Hyundai stated on March 4, reports the Associated Press.
