Nissan North America Inc. is recalling 13,535 2012-2014 model-year Frontier pickup trucks to address a potential fire risk arising from the way a circuit breaker was installed.

The recall affects trucks manufactured from Nov. 28, 2012, through Dec. 17, 2013. A circuit breaker may have been installed incorrectly, causing the main wire harness connected to it to face outward. Contact with a metal bolt located on the A-pillar might cause the bolt to wear through the wire harness covering, resulting in an electrical short, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. This poses a fire risk.

Nissan dealers will inspect the circuit breaker orientation. If there’s a problem, dealers will repair the vehicle free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in early March. Truck owners can reach Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
