Google's automotive working group is partnering with Audi, General Motors, Honda and Hyundai to will bring its Android platform into vehicles, the technology giant announced at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Googls' Open Automotive Alliance, which also includes chipmaker Nvidia, is working at "accelerating auto innovation with an approach that offers openness, customization and scale," according to a post on Google's Android blog.

The partnership will enable integration of Android devices with a car's built-in controls and in-dash display to improve safety and expand the Android app ecosystem, according to Google.
