Shanghai General Motors Co. Ltd., General Motors’ Chinese joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp., is recalling 1.46 million cars to address a defect in the fuel pump brackets, Reuters reported.
The Shanghai GM recall, announced Dec. 27, includes 1.2 million Buick Excelle compacts manufactured 2006-2011 and 240,000 Chevrolet Sail subcompacts manufactured 2009-2011. The fuel pump brackets, over time, may crack and possibly lead to a fuel leak. The automaker will fix the problem.
In a separate action, Ford Motor Co.’s joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. is recalling nearly 81,000 Kuga crossovers to fix a steering part.
China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced the recalls.
