BMW hosted an event earlier this month in Washington, D.C., to showcase the 2014 i3 sedan—its first electric production vehicle.

The event was attended by government officials, press, and other stakeholders, according to BMW. A panel of speakers discussed environmental policy issues under the banner of "Shaping the Future of Sustainable Mobility."

The panel included Heather Zichal, deputy assistant to the president for energy and climate change; U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, (D-Wash.); and Mitchell Moss, director of the Rudin Center for Transportation and professor of urban policy at New York University.

The event was Nov. 7.
