The National Safety Council has launched its NSC Defensive Driving Course - Left Side of the Road for nations in the Caribbean. This course is designed for drivers who in countries that have road systems that pass oncoming traffic on the left side.

The NSC said it modeled the new course after the same defensive driving principles in its NSC DDC 8/6 Hour (9th Edition) program. The course covers the following topics: knowledge and techniques for avoiding collisions and violations; advice for choosing safe and responsible driving behaviors and habits; the importance of occupant safety devices and their correct use; guidance for dealing with difficult driving conditions, distractions, and fatigue; and skills for recognizing how a driver’s attitude can help prevent accidents and improve decision making.

The NSC said it operates in over 100 countries and has certified DDC training centers in 28 countries around the world.
