The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) launched its latest free online toolkit designed to help employers educate their employees about safe driving.

The 2013 Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW) toolkit’s theme this year is “Gear up for safe driving: Mind •Body •Vehicle” and focuses on how maintaining the mind, body, and vehicle are essential to being a safe driver. The toolkit then goes on to provide specific steps employees can take.

Examples of actions employees can take that relate to this year’s theme include regular vision screenings, getting rest and eating well, proper preventive maintenance for a company vehicle, and ergonomic tips for comfortable driving.

“Driving is a physical task that requires mental focus,” said Sandra Lee, Director of Worldwide Fleet Safety for Johnson & Johnson and chairperson of NETS. “A driver’s mind and body in combination with the vehicle work together as a system. This year’s campaign outlines simple steps that anyone can take to ensure every component of that system is well cared for and that drivers are at their best behind the wheel.”

The toolkit provides a mix of graphics, text, PDFs, banners, posters, and other materials that companies can use to encourage safe driving habits.
