Toyota started production of its redesigned 2014-MY Tundra pickup truck at its Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX) plant in San Antonio at the beginning of August. The automaker said the 2014 Tundra will go on sale at dealers in September.

For 2014, Toyota focused on the pickup's exterior and interior. The truck features a new front end, bed, and tailgate and an updated interior with feature differences between trim levels.

Toyota plans to offer the Tundra in the two-door Regular Cab, four-door Double Cab, and four-door CrewMax models and in the SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition trim grades.

The automaker said it originally began production of Tundra models at its Texas plant in November 2006. According to Toyota, TMMTX also builds the Tacoma and can produce 200,000 trucks.

According to data from R.L. Polk published in Automotive Fleet’s 2013-2014 Fact Book, there were 2,062 2012-CY registrations for Tundra pickups in commercial fleets in the U.S.
