ARI, a Canadian provider of fleet management services, has announced the ARI proprietary fleet card is now PIN enabled at major national fuel suppliers. Adding another level of security to fuel purchases, drivers using the ARI fleet card will now be prompted for a personal identification number (PIN) at Petro Canada, Esso, and Shell locations across Canada.

Because of this added level of security, drivers are now able to swipe at the pump for fuel purchases at PIN enabled locations, according to ARI.

PIN, also known as Driver ID, is one in a series of ARI enhancements that will provide the highest level of fuel transaction security to date, according to the fleet management company (FMC). ARI has also implemented electronic transaction limits that restrict the daily use of a fuel card by the number of transactions and/or transaction amount.

By year’s end, ARI PIN acceptance will be expanded to over 90 percent of Canadian fuel locations. In June, ARI will also be introducing the industry's first CHIP and PIN fleet MasterCard.

Over 130,000 Canadian fleet drivers are currently using an ARI fleet card or ARI MasterCard, according to the FMC.
