Toyota Motor Sales USA said it is recalling approximately 209,000 2007-2013 model-year FJ Cruiser vehicles so that dealers can address a potential seat belt problem.

The seat belt retractors for the driver and front passenger seat belts are mounted in the rear doors of the vehicle. Because the rear door panel isn’t strong enough, cracks may develop over an extended period of time if the rear door is repeatedly and forcefully closed. If cracks occur in the panel around the lower seat belt retractor anchor, the seat belt retractor may become detached, Toyota said.

No accidents or injuries have been reported for this condition. Authorized Toyota dealers will remedy the problem at no charge to the vehicle owner.
