Tesla, Inc. is recalling an estimated 1,096,762 Model 3, 2020-2022 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles for a window problem. Specifically, the window automatic reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction.

This situation increases the risk of injury because a closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting.

To fix the problem, Tesla will perform an over-the-air (OTA) software update of the automatic window reversal system, at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters will be mailed Nov.15, 2022.

Owners can reach Tesla customer service at (877) 798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-22-00-013.

Over 50 million vehicles in the United States have unrepaired safety recalls, according to the National Safety Council. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urges all vehicle owners — including fleet operators — to follow any interim safety guidance provided by the manufacturer and contact your local dealership to fix the recalled part for free.
